Your hands are the only connection you have to the golf club. If they are cold, numb, and stiff, it does not matter how good your swing is. Cold hands cost golfers shots, rounds, and seasons. This guide covers why the golf cart mitts are the single most effective solution for keeping your hands warm between shots, and why the Volt Heat 5V Rechargeable Golf Cart Mitts are in a category of their own.

My name is Chris Haffly. I am the founder of Volt Heat and a PGA golf professional. I started playing golf at age 10, the minimum age to be allowed on the local municipal course near my home in the Pacific Northwest. Growing up in the PNW, our summers were beautiful, but it can definitely get cold, especially in the mornings and evenings when the sun starts to go down. I played every day, all day, all summer long, rain or shine. Golf became my sport. I played football, baseball, and basketball throughout the year, but I would sneak out to the golf course whenever I could, regardless of the time of year or weather conditions.
I can still recall those cold bike rides to and from the course where I would take the head covers off my woods and put them over my hands to keep warm. There was no golf hand warmer technology back then, no chemical heating packs. But as a kid, you get used to the cold fast, especially when you are pedaling a bike with a golf bag strapped to your back.
Fast forward many years and golf is still my sport. It became my first vocation after accepting a scholarship to college to become a golf professional. My career path changed when I started Volt Heated Clothing and patented the Zero Layer® Heat System, but I am still hooked on the game and always looking to give back to it. At Volt Heat, we are always looking to develop products to help everyone stay warm, whatever their passion, but personally I am also always looking to make products to help me stay warm with mine: golf.
Cold weather stiffens the muscles and does not allow you to swing the club like you could when your body is loose and limber. The hands go cold with numb fingers if you do not keep your core warm. And there is nothing worse in golf than hitting a golf ball thin with cold and numb fingers.
Most hand warmers for golfers in cold conditions are the familiar chemical heating packs. Every golfer knows the routine: squeeze the pack, wait for it to heat up, hold it in your gloved hand, and hope it lasts long enough to get some feeling back before the next shot.
The problems are well known. Chemical packs heat only the palm of the hand, not the fingers. They run out. They cannot be turned up when temperatures drop. They are disposable waste and an ongoing expense across a full winter golf season.
Some golfers reach for winter golf gloves as a solution. Standard best winter golf gloves insulate the hand but cannot generate heat. A thick insulated golf glove slows the loss of warmth but does not replace it once the hand has gone cold after a long cart ride on a 35°F morning. And wearing the golf glove the entire round means reduced feel and dexterity for every shot.
The most effective approach is a system that actively generates heat between shots and comes off cleanly for the swing. That is exactly what golf cart mitts are designed to do.
Some of my first heated products at Volt Heat were developed specifically for golf. I developed a heated golf cart seat cover, heated golf cart mitts, and a hand warmer to be worn around the waist. They were all great concepts, but back then the battery technology had not caught up yet. That was a long time ago.
Now we have developed something genuinely special: the Volt Heat 5V Rechargeable Golf Cart Mitts.

If you are an avid golfer who plays in cold conditions, you have probably seen the Titleist golf cart mitt they have offered for years. Imagine having a version of that but with 135 degrees of instant heat delivered to both sides of your hands and fingers, while also blocking out the wind and rain that steal warmth faster than the cold alone ever could.
The Volt 5V USB heated golf cart mitts provide full electric heating coverage with our patented Zero Layer® Heat System that delivers 135 degrees of instant heat to both sides of the hand including the thumb. You would need to put five chemical heat packs in each mitt to get comparable heat coverage. No chemical pack heats both sides of the hand, the fingers, and the thumb simultaneously the way the Volt system does.
Full Coverage Heating
Most hand warmers for golfers heat only the palm. The Volt golf cart mitts use the patented Zero Layer® Heat System to heat both sides of the hand including the thumb. When the hands are in sustained contact with a cold cart steering wheel or resting during a cart ride, heat comes from every direction, not just one surface.
Premium Construction
The silky soft fleece lining welcomes your hands to warmth immediately and 120 grams of insulation helps keep the heat in and the cold out. You can even throw your golf ball inside the mitt between holes to keep it warm for your next shot. We are not going to tell anyone.
The golf cart mittens also include a waterproof and breathable membrane so they will keep your hands dry on cold rainy days as well. The outer shell blocks wind and rain while the membrane prevents moisture from reaching the lining and insulation inside.
Rechargeable Battery System
The Volt golf cart mitts include two small rechargeable VB550 5000mAh batteries and a micro-USB charging cable. The batteries include a Type-C fast charging input so you can charge them on the way to the golf course or directly from your golf cart. No disposable packs. No running to the pro shop when the heat runs out on the 12th hole.
Simple to Use
Charge up the batteries and connect them to the special USB weatherproof plug. It is reversible so there is no wrong way to connect it. Press the plug in, place the battery in the waterproof zippered pocket on the underside of the cuff, and use the silicone controller switch on the back of the mitt to choose from three power level settings. Welcome to warm winter golf.
Three Heat Settings
High: Maximum heat for the coldest frost delay mornings
Medium/High: Still able to warm up the hands and keep them from going numb
Medium: Steady warmth for cold but manageable conditions
Low: Gentle warmth for mild cold days when you need just a little extra
The key to using golf cart mitts or golf winter mitts effectively is the same approach the best cold weather golfers have always used: keep the hands warm between shots and take the mitts off cleanly when it is time to swing.
Here is the routine that works:
On the cart or walking between holes: Put the mitts on immediately after completing a hole. Keep them on for the entire cart ride or walk to the next tee. The heat runs continuously and recovers finger warmth during every transition.
On the tee and in the fairway: Remove the mitts, put on your golf glove (or just leave it on while in the mitt), and play the shot with full feel and dexterity. The hands retain the warmth built up during the transition.
Back on the cart: Mitts back on immediately. The Zero Layer® system goes back to work.
This system is exactly what the men's winter golf mittens category was always supposed to be. Not a permanent layer that compromises your swing, but an on-demand heat source that works between shots and comes off when performance demands it.
The Volt Heat 7V Heated Mitts for Men and Volt Heat 7V Heated Mitts for Women are also a popular choice for golfers who want the stronger 7V heat output for the coldest playing conditions.
For golfers who want to extend their season and stay comfortable on the course in genuinely cold conditions, the golf cart mitts are the hand-warming solution. But the complete cold weather golf setup covers the full body.
For the seat
The Volt Heat 5V Heated Seat Cushion is the perfect golf cart seat warmer for cold weather rounds. It fits any heated golf cart seat and provides active warmth from below for the entire round. As a golf cart seat warmer that generates its own heat rather than just insulating, it keeps you warm from the seat up throughout every hole.
For the core
A Volt Heat heated vest under your outer layer keeps your core warm and your muscles loose for every swing. Cold core muscles affect swing mechanics just as much as cold hands. Keeping the torso warm helps maintain the muscle flexibility needed to swing the club properly.

Cold weather should not end your golf season. With the right gear, a frost delay morning or a breezy late-season round becomes just another day on the course. The Volt Heat 5V Rechargeable golf cart mitts keep your hands warm between every shot. The 5V Heated Seat Cushion keeps you warm in the cart from the first hole to the last. A heated vest keeps your core muscles loose and your swing intact regardless of the temperature.
Volt Heat has been developing heated clothing for golfers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who refuses to let the cold win since 2010. Every product is backed by a Lifetime Limited Warranty on the patented Zero Layer® Heat System and designed, developed, and distributed from the USA.

Resist the Cold!
The Volt Heat 5V Rechargeable golf cart mitts are the best option for cold weather golf. The patented Zero Layer® Heat System delivers 130 degrees of heat to both sides of the hand including the thumb, using the included rechargeable VB550 5000mAh batteries with Type-C fast charging. Unlike chemical hand warmers for golfers that heat only the palm and run out, the Volt golf cart mittens provide continuous, adjustable heat for the entire round.
Right-handed golfers traditionally wear a winter golf gloves option on the left hand (the lead hand that grips the club at the top). Left-handed golfers wear one on the right hand. Some golfers wear gloves on both hands in cold conditions. Golf cart mitts are worn on both hands between shots regardless of glove preference and removed for the swing itself. You can wear the mitts on top of your golf gloves where the heat from the mitts will help warm them up as well.
A properly fitting golf glove should feel like a second skin. The fingertips should reach the end of each glove finger without bunching. The velcro closure at the wrist should fasten comfortably without being tight or leaving gaps. When using golf cart gloves or mitts between shots, fit is less critical since they are removed for the actual swing.
Golf glove sizing is based on hand circumference measured around the knuckles. Most manufacturers offer Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large with some brands offering Medium-Large as well. For golf winter mitts and cart mitts, sizing is generally more forgiving since they are worn over a glove or on bare hands between shots rather than during the swing itself. We offer one size in our heated golf cart mitts that will fit most.
A heated golf cart seat or golf cart seat warmer is a heated cushion that sits on the golf cart seat and generates active warmth from below during the round. Unlike standard cart seat covers that only insulate, an active heated golf cart seat cushion generates heat continuously. The Volt Heat 5V Heated Seat Cushion is the best option currently available, providing up to 9 or more hours of warmth on a single charge.
Chemical hand warmers for golfers heat primarily from the palm area only, run out after 60 to 90 minutes, cannot be adjusted, and produce waste after every round. The Volt Heat 5V golf cart mitts deliver 135 degrees of heat to both sides of the hand including every finger and the thumb, last for hours on a rechargeable battery that charges on the way to the course, and can be adjusted between three heat settings throughout the round. You would need five chemical packs per mitt to match the coverage the Volt system delivers from a single rechargeable battery.
Yes. The Volt 5V golf cart mittens include a waterproof and breathable membrane that blocks rain and moisture from reaching the lining and insulation while allowing internal moisture to escape. The outer shell blocks wind and cold rain that steal warmth faster than temperature alone. These are true mens winter golf mittens built for all cold weather conditions on the course including wet and rainy rounds.
